The Kyiv City Military Administration has ordered temporary traffic stops on the Podilskyi and Southern Bridges for up to 15 minutes after air raid sirens sound, while keeping other Dnipro River crossings open.
The Kyiv City Military Administration (KMDA) has introduced temporary traffic restrictions on two key Dnipro River crossings effective immediately. When an air raid warning is declared, vehicle movement on the Podilskyi Bridge will be halted from the left bank to the right bank for up to 15 minutes. Simultaneously, the Southern Bridge will block traffic in the opposite direction — from the right bank to the left bank — for the same period. Access to the Southern Bridge toward the left bank will be directed via Stolichne Highway, Nadniprianske Highway, and the Vydubychi bus station interchange. All other bridges across the Dnipro within city limits will remain open during alerts.
The measures come as Kyiv continues to refine its civil defense procedures following the introduction of a two-tier alert system that distinguishes yellow warnings for drone threats from red alerts for missile strikes. Previous adjustments have included changes to siren protocols and operational rules for public institutions during yellow alerts. The coordinated bridge closures aim to reduce congestion and clear routes for emergency responders during the critical first minutes of an alert.
Drivers are urged to monitor official KMDA channels for real-time updates and alternative routing information.
