Paton Bridge in Kyiv to Partially Close for Repairs from September 11 to 14

Kyiv city authorities announced that Paton Bridge, a key crossing over the Dnipro River, will undergo partial closure starting at 15:00 on September 11 and lasting until 07:00 on September 14. The restriction affects the direction from the left bank to the right bank, specifically toward Mykola Mikhnovsky Boulevard.

Repair crews will work in the second traffic lane during this period. To maintain flow, traffic will be diverted to the first and third lanes. The bridge connects the Darnytsia and Pechersk districts and carries significant daily commuter volume.

Officials did not specify the nature of the repairs but indicated the work is scheduled for off-peak hours to minimize disruption. Drivers are advised to plan alternative routes or allow extra travel time. The closure coincides with the start of the school year, when morning traffic typically increases.

Paton Bridge, named after Ukrainian scientist Yevhen Paton, opened in 1953 and is one of the oldest welded bridges in the world. It has undergone several major renovations, most recently in 2020. The current works appear to be routine maintenance rather than structural overhaul.
