Maternity Hospital in Podil District Damaged After Overnight Attack

The overnight strike that hit the maternity hospital in Kyiv's Podil district left the building's windows completely shattered, its heavy doors ripped from their frames, and the exterior façade cracked across the first through fifth floors, scattering debris throughout the corridors. The adjacent laundry facility, boiler room, and clinical diagnostic center also sustained damage.

At the moment of impact, patients, newborns, children, and medical personnel were sheltering inside the facility's designated safe zone, which had been prepared for such emergencies. Despite the hazardous environment, doctors did not cease their duties; a male infant was delivered in one of the delivery rooms while the attack continued unabated.

Authorities subsequently confirmed that a deceased individual was discovered in the parking area directly adjacent to the medical complex.

Rescue teams are currently conducting a thorough evaluation of the building's structural integrity and are securing the surrounding perimeter to facilitate a comprehensive inspection of the site.
