Ballistic Missile Threat to Kyiv Remains Active as Russia Prepares Large-Scale Launch

Published Updated

Ukrainian air defense monitors report a planned Russian launch of dozens of ballistic and hypersonic missiles toward Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast from multiple Russian regions and occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian air defense monitoring centers say a large-scale ballistic missile threat against Kyiv and the surrounding region remains active, with Russian forces preparing to launch dozens of missiles from multiple sites overnight.

According to monitoring data, the plan includes 10 ballistic missiles from Bryansk Oblast, 12 from Kursk Oblast, eight from Voronezh and Rostov oblasts combined, five from occupied Crimea, and five Zircon hypersonic missiles also from Kursk.

The alert coincides with the arrival of foreign delegations in Kyiv today, raising hopes for a temporary lull, but officials stress that air-raid sirens will be activated and defenses remain on high alert. Ukraine recently updated its air-raid alert system, introducing yellow and red threat levels and modifying siren signals to better distinguish between drone and missile attacks.

Authorities urged residents to heed shelter warnings and follow civil-defense instructions, while the General Staff continues to track launch preparations in real time.
