Polish President Navrotsky sent a congratulatory letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, celebrated on August 24, calling on both governments to resolve the lingering bilateral disputes that continue to cloud relations between Warsaw and Kyiv.
In the letter, which was summarized by Marcin Przydacz, head of the Bureau of International Policy at the Polish president’s office, Navrotsky wrote that “tense moments” remain between the two countries. He said Warsaw wants to settle those issues gradually.
Przydacz emphasized that Poland remains interested in building good-neighborly relations with Ukraine. He added, however, that such relations must be grounded, among other things, in historical truth.
Przydacz also reported that contacts between the offices of the Ukrainian and Polish presidents continue. He noted, however, that there are currently no concrete plans in place for Navrotsky to travel to Kyiv for an official visit.
The message underscored Warsaw’s stated desire to maintain dialogue with Kyiv while seeking to settle the remaining disagreements.
