Poland Seeks to Eliminate Border Queues with Ukraine Amid Russian Attack Threat, Tusk Says
Poland aims to accelerate cross-border traffic with Ukraine to prevent vehicle concentrations that could be targeted by Russian strikes, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced.
Poland is moving to clear traffic bottlenecks at its border with Ukraine because large queues of vehicles, especially fuel tankers, are seen as potential targets for Russian attacks, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
The government plans to speed up transport flows and will involve customs officers, police, border guards, and the military to coordinate the effort. The issue will be further discussed at the Polish Ministry of Finance.
"Cooperation between customs, police, border guards and the military must streamline movement so that traffic jams do not form, because it becomes dangerous," Tusk stated.
The measure reflects heightened concern over Russian missile and drone strikes targeting logistics hubs near the frontier. Fuel trucks waiting in line are considered particularly vulnerable.
Officials expect the joint operation to reduce waiting times and lower the risk of mass casualties in the event of an attack.
