Sikorski Likens Russian Strikes on Ukraine to Nazi V-2 Attacks on London

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski compared Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities to Nazi Germany's V-2 rocket attacks on London during World War II, arguing that President Vladimir Putin is repeating the Third Reich's strategic error.

Speaking in an interview with Polsat News, Sikorski noted that the first V-2 ballistic missiles were launched against London only in November 1944, resulting in approximately 10,000 deaths, yet the Nazi regime ultimately lost the war. He contended that current Russian bombardments, which kill "2-12 persons a day," do not degrade the Ukrainian army's capacity to defend the Donbas region. "First, when striking cities and killing 2-12 people a day, this in no way affects the ability of the Ukrainian army to defend Donbas," Sikorski said.

The minister suggested, however, that Moscow may pursue a "deeper plan" aimed at undermining the legitimacy of the government in Kyiv rather than achieving direct military objectives. The historical analogy underscores Warsaw's view that Russia's campaign of long-range strikes against civilian infrastructure is both morally reprehensible and strategically futile.
