Tusk Warns of Possible Russian Drone Strikes on Poland in Coming Months

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Russian forces could launch attacks on Polish territory within the next few months, telling RMF24 that Moscow’s military escalation is moving closer to the country’s borders. The primary concern, he said, involves Russian jet-powered drones, whose growing range and precision make them capable of striking not only military targets but also critical infrastructure such as railway operations and industrial enterprises.

The remarks come as Warsaw reassesses its defense posture amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. Poland, a NATO frontline state, has repeatedly scrambled aircraft and raised air defense readiness in response to Russian missile and drone incursions near its border, including after massive strikes on western Ukraine. In September, Polish and Ukrainian intelligence thwarted an imminent threat to a border crossing, prompting Tusk to warn that Moscow aims to disrupt trade and aid routes.

Tusk emphasized the need to strengthen national readiness across both military and civilian sectors. His statement aligns with recent Polish investments in air defense systems and border fortifications, reflecting the government’s expectation that hybrid and kinetic threats will intensify as the conflict enters its third year.
