Polish reservists and essential civilian specialists are being mailed cards telling them where to report if mobilization is declared; the army calls it a routine annual procedure.
Poles have started receiving mobilization cards in the mail, Polish broadcaster RMF24 reports. The notifications are going mainly to reservists and to professionals the army considers essential, including doctors, information-technology workers, logisticians and other skilled specialists.
Each card identifies the recipient’s assigned military unit and the location they must report to if mobilization is declared or war begins. Under Polish law, anyone who fails to appear after a mobilization order risks a prison sentence of at least three years.
The Polish Armed Forces emphasized that issuing the cards is a standard annual procedure and should not be read as an announcement of mobilization or a sign of imminent conflict. Officials said the aim is to keep reservist and specialist personnel records up to date so qualified people can be quickly directed to their posts in an emergency.
The measure is part of Warsaw’s wider push to modernize and streamline defense readiness amid heightened regional security concerns.
