RMF24 reports that Ukrainians with temporary protection status are leaving Poland in increasing numbers and heading to the Czech Republic instead of Germany.
Ukrainian nationals holding temporary protection status in Poland are leaving in growing numbers and increasingly moving to the Czech Republic, according to Polish broadcaster RMF24.
Data cited by the outlet show that between June and July the number of Ukrainians covered by temporary protection in Poland fell by approximately 14,400 people. The decline points to shifting settlement patterns among displaced Ukrainians within the European Union.
Germany had previously been the primary destination for Ukrainians departing Poland. Around 1.29 million Ukrainians currently hold temporary protection status there, making it the largest host country for those leaving Poland.
Czechia is now emerging as another major destination. The country hosts roughly 381,000 Ukrainians with temporary protection status, the report notes.
The trend illustrates how Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection are redistributing across Central Europe as they weigh support systems, job opportunities, and living conditions in different host states.
