Sienicki said the region is already rehearsing response scenarios for possible Russian hybrid attacks or limited provocations. He stressed that securing logistics routes to the Baltic states is especially important: Poland borders Lithuania, and its territory, ports and transport networks would be central to reinforcing Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in any crisis.
The analyst also highlighted joint training with Ukrainian service members as valuable for NATO forces. Ukrainian troops bring combat experience from the ongoing war, which helps allies better prepare for modern battlefield threats, he said.
The remarks come amid heightened concern over possible Russian aggression against a Baltic NATO member. Western media reported on August 28 that CIA Director John Ratcliffe made an unannounced visit to Moscow to warn the Kremlin against escalating against the Baltic states. A Polish survey released on August 29 found that only 51 percent of respondents aged 18 to 29 believe NATO would defend Poland from a Russian attack.
