Warsaw Denies Rumors of 'Ukrainian Veterans Corps'

Published Updated

Polish officials refute social media claims that a Ukrainian veterans corps is being set up in Poland; journalists confirm the cited address hosts a civilian Ukrainian community hub.

Warsaw authorities have denied rumors circulating on social media about the establishment of a "Ukrainian Veterans Corps" on Polish soil. The speculation suggested Poland was being turned into a base for Ukraine's post-war problems, prompting calls for government clarification on whether the initiative posed a security threat to Poles.

Journalists from the Polish outlet WP Wiadomości visited the address cited in the rumors and found it houses UA Hub, a facility offering offices, studios and communal space for the Ukrainian diaspora. The UA Hub has operated for months as a cultural and business center, not a military formation. Officials stressed that no governmental decision has been taken to create a veterans corps.

The clarification aims to calm public concern and prevent misinformation from fueling anti-Ukrainian sentiment.
