Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that the capital's nighttime curfew will be shortened by one hour and will now run from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. The revised hours take effect from 00:00 on 10 September.
Kyiv has enforced a nighttime curfew since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 as part of nationwide martial-law measures. The change gives residents an additional hour of movement overnight, with the ban on public movement beginning at 1:00 a.m. and lasting until 5:00 a.m. City authorities did not specify the previous curfew window, but the new order reduces the restricted period by 60 minutes.
The mayor's office said Kyiv's public transport schedule will be extended by one hour to align with the shorter curfew, allowing passengers to use city transport up until the new start of the nightly ban.
However, the operating hours of restaurants, cafes, entertainment venues and shopping malls will remain unchanged under the new rules. Those businesses must continue to follow their existing closing schedules, officials added.
