Kyiv Oblast Declares August 30 Day of Mourning for Victims of Russian Attack

A day of mourning will be observed across Kyiv Oblast on Friday, August 30, for victims of the Russian attack carried out the previous day, local authorities announced in a statement.

As a sign of grief and remembrance, Ukrainian national flags will be flown at half-mast throughout the region. Entertainment venues will be restricted, and officials urged residents to treat the day with respect and understanding and to refrain from playing loud music in public spaces.

“We ask you to treat this with respect and understanding, and also to limit loud music in the region,” the message stated. “I express my sincere condolences to every family that has suffered a loss. Eternal memory to all the fallen.”

The announcement did not provide casualty figures or details of the August 29 strike. The mourning measures apply to all of Kyivshchyna as communities there respond to the latest violence amid Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion.
