The man had gone to the acquaintance's location to demand repayment of money, but the dispute quickly escalated. During the heated argument, he threw an explosive device onto the ground beside the other man, causing it to detonate in the street and injure multiple people.
Five people were injured in the blast, including the 55-year-old suspect, the acquaintance, and several others who happened to be nearby at the time of the explosion. Emergency services transported all five victims to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the severity of their injuries or released any updates on their current conditions.
Police formally notified the suspect of suspicion on charges of attempted murder and illegal handling of ammunition. Investigators are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the debt dispute, including how much money was owed, and to determine how the man obtained the grenade used in the attack.
