Indian PM Modi Tells Putin Ukraine War Must End

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the war in Ukraine must end, warning that every day of fighting sets humanity back.

Modi said each day the conflict continues "pushes humanity a step back," while every step toward peace gives humanity "real hope for peace." He said the sides must move "from endless war to the end of war, to the cessation of hostilities," and "we will need to move precisely in this direction."

The Indian leader insisted that all problems must be settled peacefully. "We must resolve all problems by peaceful means," he said. "This is what all of humanity demands. And this is the message of India as well."

Modi called the shift toward peace vital for all of humanity and framed the appeal as India’s message to the world. The remarks underscore New Delhi’s call for a negotiated end to hostilities during its ongoing engagement with Moscow.
