On Thursday morning a stabbing occurred at the Benedictine monastery in Jarosław, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland. A 31‑year‑old Ukrainian citizen armed with a kitchen knife attacked worshippers during a service in the abbey.
Five people were injured — four members of the clergy and a woman. One of the priests died from his wounds, while the remaining victims sustained stab injuries.
Polish police detained the suspect at the scene. The attacker’s motives remain unknown, and investigative actions and witness interviews are continuing on the monastery grounds. Official services have urged the public to rely only on verified information from the investigation.
