An envelope from Germany containing only a leaflet caused skin irritation to three people at the Polish Military Police headquarters in Nova Dęba; no hazardous substances were found.
A suspicious envelope delivered to the headquarters of the Polish Military Police in Nova Dęba, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, sent from Germany, was opened on Tuesday, causing three people to be hospitalized.
When the package was opened, only a leaflet was found inside; no powder or liquid emerged. Nevertheless, two gendarmes and a civilian present in the room experienced skin irritation on their faces and hands.
Four additional soldiers were isolated and 133 personnel were evacuated from a neighboring building while chemical rescue teams worked on site. The Internal Security Agency and the Military Counterintelligence Service were also notified.
The Ministry of Defence later reported that experts detected no chemical, biological, or radiological substances in the envelope. The three affected individuals were examined and released from hospital, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation. A comparable episode occurred in Romania in April, where two Ukrainians were charged with sending explosive parcels allegedly orchestrated by Russian intelligence services.
