NATO Boosts Eastern-Flank Surveillance, but Claims of Imminent Russian Invasion Remain Unverified

NATO has stepped up aerial surveillance along its eastern flank, yet claims that the Alliance is "right now expecting a ground and air invasion by Putin's troops" remain unconfirmed. The intensified monitoring reflects sustained vigilance, but no official NATO statement has corroborated an imminent offensive.

A Swedish S102B Korpen reconnaissance aircraft, a platform used for signals-intelligence collection, was operating near the borders of Russia and Finland. Over Romania, a NATO E-3A AWACS airborne early-warning plane and a Dutch A330 MRTT aerial refueling tanker were active. The Dutch tanker supports extended-range reconnaissance missions. A German E-3A also departed from Geilenkirchen air base. NATO maintains heightened readiness on the eastern flank and routinely uses AWACS patrols to monitor the air situation.

Meanwhile, an American C-17 transport aircraft arrived in Moscow in recent days. CIA Director John Ratcliffe held meetings there with representatives of Russian special services. The purpose of the U.S. visit was not disclosed.
