Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Norway with First Lady Olena Zelenska for talks with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on enhancing air defense and winter preparation support, plus meetings with defense companies and a royal ceremony.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Norway on Thursday accompanied by First Lady Olena Zelenska for a visit focused on deepening bilateral defense cooperation and securing additional support ahead of winter.
Today Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The talks will center on further assistance to Ukraine, with priority given to strengthening air defense capabilities and addressing other needs critical for winter readiness. The leaders will also convene a meeting with Norwegian companies involved in developing the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile system, a project relevant to Ukraine's layered defense architecture.
On Friday, the Ukrainian delegation will attend a farewell ceremony for King Harald V, where Zelensky intends to convey the gratitude of the Ukrainian people for Norway's sustained political, humanitarian, and military backing since the full-scale invasion began.
Norway has been a consistent contributor to Ukraine's air defense, providing NASAMS systems and related missiles, and the visit underscores Kyiv's push to expand domestic production partnerships alongside foreign deliveries.
The trip comes as Ukraine braces for renewed Russian aerial campaigns targeting energy infrastructure during the cold months.
