Prosecutor General Kravchenko Denies Shielding Fraudulent Call Centers

Prosecutor General Kravchenko has publicly rejected allegations that he played any part in shielding fraudulent call-center schemes amid an ongoing anti-corruption probe. He described the accusations as groundless and emphasized that no employee of the prosecutor’s office would receive protection from legal accountability.

Kravchenko stated that an employee of the Office of the Prosecutor General who appears in a National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) investigation has already been suspended from work, though he did not name the individual. A formal decision on the employee’s dismissal is now being prepared, he added.

He also ordered a review of the Department of International Cooperation and the specialized unit responsible for combating cybercrime. In addition, all staff involved in investigations of illegal call centers are required to undergo polygraph testing.

Kravchenko further denied rumors that he had “disappeared” during the investigation. He said he remained at his workplace and gave investigators full access to his office during the relevant searches and other investigative actions.
