Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office responds to reported staff ties to scam call centers

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has responded to reports that one of its employees may have been linked to fraudulent call centers. In a statement, the agency said the full circumstances of the alleged connection must be established by the relevant investigation.

The OGP pledged to give anti-corruption bodies full cooperation and all information legally required, stressing that the episode should receive an objective legal assessment. The agency did not identify the employee or specify the suspected role.

The statement came as Ukrainian law enforcement continues a nationwide crackdown on scam call centers. Over the past 12 months, authorities have carried out more than 1,050 searches, shut down roughly 340 call centers, and eliminated over 5,000 operator workstations. In parallel, investigators are pursuing 147 criminal proceedings, more than 183 people have been served suspicion notices, and indictments against 93 individuals have already been sent to court.
