Kyiv Metro has contracted LLC “Soi Group” to deliver 3,600 chairs to underground stations used as air-raid shelters, with deliveries scheduled through 31 March 2027, according to Prozorro records.
Kyiv Metro has signed a contract through the Prozorro public procurement system for 3,600 chairs to place in underground stations that double as air-raid shelters. The agreement, concluded in August 2026 with LLC “Soi Group,” requires the supplier to deliver the chairs in batches through 31 March 2027, according to Prozorro records.
The chairs are specified to have a metal frame, fabric upholstery, a backrest, and armrests. They will support the 46 underground stations currently used as shelters during air-raid alerts, where tens of thousands of people may remain at once during mass strikes.
The purchase follows the metro’s introduction of updated shelter rules and floor markings, including four designated zones: one for people with children, one for people with limited mobility, one for passengers with animals, and a separate seated area. Officials say the changes are intended to make long stays underground safer and more organized during prolonged air-raid alarms.
