Small Island of Unusual Shape Appears Off Poland's Baltic Coast

A small island of unusual shape has appeared off the Baltic Sea coast in Poland, forming naturally only a few dozen meters from shore. Sand and silt carried by the Vistula River and pushed by sea waves gradually accumulated into a shallow sandy bank that eventually rose above the water as a tiny island.

The island has not received an official name. Local residents have already begun debating what its outline resembles, comparing it to a heart, half an avocado, a seashell, a chicken fillet, or a tree leaf.

The formation illustrates how river sediment and coastal currents can steadily reshape the shoreline, creating new landforms without human intervention. For the time being, the unnamed sandy islet remains a local curiosity and a lighthearted topic of conversation among people living nearby.
