Ukrainian developer Anatoly Amelin releases public service mapping shelters, hospitals, and attack history to help civilians assess safety risks when choosing where to live.
Ukrainian software developer Anatoly Amelin has launched SafeUA, a free online platform designed to help residents and internally displaced persons make informed decisions about where to live or relocate within Ukraine by providing comprehensive safety and infrastructure data.
The service allows users to check specific addresses for risk levels, review historical records of attack alerts, and locate the nearest shelters, hospitals, pharmacies, grocery stores, and transport links. A comparison tool enables side-by-side evaluation of potential relocation destinations based on available infrastructure and shelter coverage.
The platform's database incorporates more than 46,000 public shelter records sourced from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS). Amelin notes that data completeness varies across regions and emphasizes that the service does not guarantee safety but aggregates publicly available information for reference.
SafeUA is accessible to all users at safeua.amelin.org. The project was initially developed for personal use before being opened to the public as a civic initiative amid ongoing security challenges.
