Next Winter Could Be More Difficult for Ukrainians, UN Warns of Dangerous Scenario

The United Nations has warned that the upcoming winter could be even more severe for Ukrainians, urging the population to prepare for a dangerous scenario as Russian attacks on energy infrastructure intensify.

The UN Commission highlighted that Russian strikes on power facilities are increasingly affecting civilian living conditions. During the 2025-2026 winter, with temperatures dropping to -20 degrees Celsius, Russia systematically targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

The UN warned that the next heating season may prove even more challenging, emphasizing the need for early preparation. The commission did not specify particular measures but stressed the growing risk to essential services.

The assessment comes amid ongoing Russian missile and drone campaigns against Ukraine's power grid, which have caused widespread outages and heightened humanitarian concerns. Ukrainian authorities have been working to repair damaged facilities and bolster air defenses ahead of the cold months.
