An enemy attack on the Southern Bridge halted metro surface operations and forced detours for key bus routes; a blast wave sent dust into a train carriage at 11:30 a.m., but no injuries were reported.
Kyiv's Green Line metro service was partially suspended and two major bus routes diverted after an enemy attack struck the Southern Bridge, a vital Dnipro River crossing that carries both rail and road traffic. Metro authorities announced trains would run only on underground segments: between Syrets and Vydubychi stations on the right bank, and between Osokorky and Chervony Khutir on the left bank. The surface section across the bridge was halted indefinitely. Simultaneously, buses No. 22 and 91 were rerouted via the Darnytsky railway bridge in both directions to maintain cross-river connectivity.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. when a blast wave from the attack hit a train traversing the bridge. Dust entered the carriage through the ventilation system, though the driver and all passengers were unharmed. Officials confirmed the train's windows and structural frame remained intact. The train was diverted to the electric depot for a comprehensive technical inspection.
The Southern Bridge serves as a critical artery in Kyiv's transport network, providing the Green Line's only river crossing. Its closure severs direct metro service between the city's banks and forces significant detours for surface transit. Authorities have not yet provided an estimated timeline for restoring full service across the bridge.
