Ukrainian forces strike Iskra plant in Ulyanovsk

Ukrainian forces struck the Joint‑Stock Company NPP Iskra plant in Ulyanovsk on the night of September 25, hitting a facility that manufactures semiconductor devices, microwave components, hybrid microcircuits and other electronics for radio‑electronic equipment, communications gear and special‑purpose systems.

The plant also participates in the production chain for the Kh‑59M2/M2A guided air‑to‑surface missiles and supplies components used in the Pantsir‑S1 air‑defence system, making it a link in Russia’s missile and air‑defence manufacturing network.

Available footage and satellite imagery show the main damage concentrated on the rear section of the complex, where extensive glazing was shattered, and several through‑holes were recorded on the external wall from drone fragments; some debris appears to have penetrated the structure and exited on the opposite side, raising the possibility that production equipment was also affected.

The full extent of the damage and its impact on the plant’s output remain difficult to assess at this stage.

Analysts are monitoring whether the strike will disrupt the supply of critical microelectronics to Russian weapons programmes.
