According to the agency, the cost of construction work over the past year increased by 23.1 percent, while industrial products became 39.1 percent more expensive. Analysts say the surge stems from several overlapping pressures: higher fuel prices, which have risen 28 percent in Ukraine over the past year and outpaced the EU average increase of 16.9 percent; ongoing Russian attacks; rising labor costs; and freight tariff increases approved by Ukrzaliznytsia.
The price spikes vary by product category, with some building materials up 30 percent and others rising as much as 50 percent since the start of the year. Looking ahead, analysts warn that if current pressures persist, the cost of building materials and engineering equipment could climb by another 10 to 20 percent by the end of the year.
