Ukrainian Fuel Prices Rise 28% Year-on-Year, Outpacing EU Average of 16.9%

Fuel prices in Ukraine rose by 28% over the past year, significantly outpacing the European Union average increase of 16.9%, according to an analysis of data from Eurostat and Ukraine’s State Statistics Service.

The annual rate of fuel inflation in Ukraine was 11.1 percentage points higher than the EU average and approximately 1.66 times the European level.

The figures highlight the sharper cost pressure on Ukrainian fuel consumers relative to the broader European market. While fuel costs have climbed across the continent amid economic uncertainty, supply-chain disruptions, and energy market volatility, Ukraine’s increase substantially exceeded the regional trend tracked by the EU statistical office.

The analysis draws on official data from Eurostat and Ukraine’s State Statistics Service, which monitor consumer price movements for fuel and related petroleum products. The divergence between Ukrainian and EU fuel price growth underscores differing domestic market conditions, including taxation, supply logistics, exchange-rate effects, and the impact of the full-scale war on national infrastructure and demand.
