Russian Small-Unit Infiltration Adds Pressure to Azov’s Druzhkivka Sector

Aug 26, 2026 06:36

Russian troops have slipped into the Novomykolaivka and Torske areas in small groups, compounding the FPV drone and guided-bomb threats already facing Ukrainian forces in the Druzhkivka sector.

Ukrainian forces in the Druzhkivka sector, including the Azov command, are confronting an added challenge beyond persistent FPV drone strikes and KAB guided aerial bombs. Russian troops that had long been held up near Sofiivka managed to edge forward without changing tactics, opening a new local pressure point.

Several small Russian groups of two to three soldiers each have infiltrated the area around Novomykolaivka and Torske, according to the account. Ukrainian fighters have already eliminated some of the infiltrators with small arms, and operations to track down the remainder are ongoing.

The report warns that, until the underlying vulnerabilities are fully resolved, isolated enemy incursions are likely to recur periodically in the Rai sector. The situation underscores the difficulty of sealing gaps along a contested front line while defending against aerial and drone attacks.
