Ukrainian border guards from the State Border Guard Service's "Fortress" brigade have retaken 15 square kilometers of territory on the Vovchansk axis in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast, according to a unit statement. The offensive fully liberated the settlements of Pokalyane, Zibyne, and the majority of Vovchansk Khutory, while troops also established control over roughly half of the forested area north of these locations.

The operation inflicted significant losses on Russian forces, with the brigade reporting 118 enemy soldiers killed and seven captured for addition to the prisoner exchange fund. The brigade characterized the fighting as intense and confirmed that offensive actions are continuing in the sector.

The Vovchansk direction has seen persistent combat since Russia's renewed offensive in Kharkiv Oblast began in May 2024. Ukrainian forces have gradually pushed back Russian positions north of the city, with the "Fortress" brigade playing a central role in recent advances. The liberated settlements lie along the strategic corridor between Vovchansk and the Russian border.
