Russian forces around Konstas have abandoned frontal attacks in favor of flanking pressure, particularly west of Chasik, but Ukrainian defenders report that the enemy’s main units have not entered the city and its only gain in two weeks is Illinivka.
Around Konstas, Russian forces have shifted from frontal assaults to flanking pressure in an effort to trap Ukrainian defenders, with the heaviest pressure reported west of Chasik (Chasiv Yar), according to a Donbas-based source.
Enemy reconnaissance and assault groups are slipping into the city in small numbers and pulling drone operators forward, but Russia’s main forces have not yet entered, the source said.
Over the past two weeks, Moscow’s only confirmed territorial gain in the area is the village of Illinivka. Ukrainian units holding the perimeter describe the defensive lines as solid and say they are inflicting significant casualties on attacking troops and equipment, slowing the Russian advance to a matter of a few hundred meters at most.
The source characterized the overall Russian offensive in the sector as bogged down, warning that the push risks grinding to a halt as autumn weather sets in. Ukrainian forces continue to hold Konstas, the source added.
