Russia has shifted to round-the-clock waves of drone attacks in a tactical change that began around Aug. 27, the Institute for the Study of War reports.
Russia has shifted to launching unmanned aerial vehicles in continuous, round-the-clock waves since approximately Aug. 27, according to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
In their latest assessment, the think tank said the occupying forces had changed tactics around late August, shifting to near-constant drone operations rather than the previous pattern of strikes and keeping Ukrainian air-defense crews under sustained pressure.
ISW notes that reactive or jet-powered drones now account for roughly 50–56 percent of the unmanned assets being used in these waves, reflecting a notable shift in the composition of the attacking force.
The reported aims are multi-pronged: exhausting Ukrainian air-defense units, maintaining constant psychological pressure on civilians, blocking enterprise operations, and paralyzing the economic life of cities.
By sustaining attacks through day and night, Moscow appears to be trying to overwhelm defenders, stretch limited interceptor supplies, and raise the broader societal and economic costs of the war beyond the front line.
