NYU Professor Scott Galloway Warns of 'Hidden Nihilism' Among Billionaires With Escape Plans

Published Updated

NYU Stern professor and entrepreneur Scott Galloway says nearly one-third of billionaires maintain evacuation plans including private jets and New Zealand bunkers, arguing the ultra-wealthy have detached from society.

New York University Stern School of Business professor and entrepreneur Scott Galloway has warned that a "hidden nihilism" is spreading among the world's billionaire class, with nearly one in three maintaining detailed evacuation plans for a potential global catastrophe.

Speaking publicly, Galloway said these contingency strategies include private aircraft on standby, dedicated pilots, and fortified bunkers in New Zealand. He argued that the ultra-wealthy no longer perceive themselves as part of broader society because their daily lives are entirely insulated from the challenges facing ordinary citizens.

"They no longer feel part of society, because their life is completely separated from the problems of ordinary people," Galloway stated. He added that the top 0.1% of the population wields disproportionate political influence while living under what he described as a "glass dome" of privilege.

According to Galloway, this detachment has led billionaires to stop investing in the collective future. Instead, he said, they are fixated on extraterrestrial colonization, particularly the dream of establishing a human presence on Mars, as the ultimate exit strategy from earthly crises.
