Japan Provides $51.5 Million to Ukraine for Health System Development, Prime Minister Koretsky Says

Japan has provided Ukraine with a financial package of $51.5 million to support the development of the country's healthcare system, Prime Minister Koretsky announced.

The funds have already been credited to the Ukrainian state budget within the framework of the World Bank's THRIVE project, a financing mechanism for health sector reform.

According to the government, the money will be allocated to two priorities: increasing the efficiency of the Medical Guarantees Program and strengthening the institutional capacity of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).

The THRIVE program as a whole carries a total envelope of $1.2 billion, of which Ukraine has so far accessed $449 million.
